Welcome to Relay
This is just a brief introduction to what Relay is, what we're planning to do, and what we hope to accomplish.

Welcome! This is a project we've been thinking about doing for some time now. You might have some questions, and we definitely have answers.
What is this?
Relay is a newsletter project being undertaken by We Distribute, a news publication and media nonprofit dedicated to covering the evolution of the Social Web. Historically, our coverage has focused on the Fediverse, Bluesky, Nostr, and other decentralized communication projects.
As independent journalists, one challenge we've found ourselves coming up against is that the Social Web is moving really fast. Every day, new projects and initiatives launch, new apps are discovered, and something happens in the community. We do our best to report what we can.
Relay exists to solve several problems:
- To summarize the things we do manage to cover in a week within our own publication.
- To promote voices from other authors and publications from within the community.
- To share cool and amazing things happening on the Social Web that we might not be able to immediately cover in a long-form article.
As an organization, our mission is to educate and inform people about what's going on in the space. We can't do it alone! So instead, we are working to curate and promote other people who are also doing this work, in the spirit of community collaboration.
What about We Distribute?
Our news publication will continue to exist and serve its purpose. Now, our articles will join the work of other fantastic publications, such as Connected Places, FORbetter, The Future is Federated, NHAM, and The Privacy Nexus.
We are also looking to the wider community to share individual stories and insights by people who maybe only have the time to write every once in a while, but still have valuable thoughts to share.
Moving Forward
Our first issue will be available this coming Friday, and we will aim to publish weekly. There's still a lot to do here, such as giving this site a fresh coat of paint and refining how issues are put together.
Nevertheless, we're excited. If you're interested in supporting us and reading this, either in your email inbox or on the Fediverse, please join our community and Subscribe!
